Handless Maiden by Jeanie Tomanek
The Chenla Theater is opening its doors for an eight-night Khmer theater series, with English and French subtitles. An exciting programme which includes Franck Manzoni's adaptation of the Grimm brothers' tale : The Girl, The Devil and The Mill, the result of a two-month effort with the Cambodian team. See our previous Editorial for more information.
Besides this genuine cultural encounter, the Royal Ballet of Cambodia will accommodate a classical piece with some serious lighting techniques seasoning. Come and have a taste of the Fertility dance, choreographed by Sophiline Cheam Shapiro, and the contemporary drama piece inspired by the life story of Stung Meanchey rubbish dump inhabitants. Get ready for a special poetic crush on young Kakei, married to a King and seduced by a garouda. And all of us should have a taste of the Bassac opera - last year, this particularly popular branch of theater had the audience rolling around and asking for more!
Chenla Theater, from September 4th onwards, every night at 7pm - free admission on a first come first serve basis - be early! Get the full Lakhaon programme!
