AFRICAN DOCS
Max Doherty’s first film (2007, 22mins) takes a glance at the Karamajong, semi-nomadic people of north-eastern Uganda, which have been resisting integration into Ugandan State for decades. Even before the Ugandan Army offensive, their region was in a state of ongoing conflict between cattle herding tribes from three countries who systematically raided each other for animals. Filmmaker will be present and hold a Q&A, followed by Barbet Schroeder’s chilling documentary “GENERAL IDI AMIN DADA” (1974, 90mins), who became known as the 'Butcher of Uganda' for his brutal rule whilst president in the 1970s.
