Once upon a time there was a happy man called Joe odd. He lived in a little hut on the side of a hill, with his dog...
In the mid 80s the artist Nicolas C Grey got hold of this story and in 1991, the 3-page long Story of Joe Odd was created.
The Story of Joe Odd is a surrealistic tale about norms, control and lunacy.
During the 1980s, at a high-security mental hospital in Devon, England, a story about a man called Joe Odd, was found. The yellow type-written page was signed "BB.83" so we can only assume it was written in 1983. We do not know who wrote it.
In the mid 80s the high-security mental hospitals in Devon closed down as did most high-security mental hospitals in Europe during the 80s.
A friend of Nicolas C Grey who knew Nic collected old photographs, letters and drawings found it. He gave it to Nic and in 1991 the 3-page long "The Story of Joe Odd" was created.
The Story of Joe Odd will be seen on the walls of Java Cafe and Gallery (downstairs). Also Selling Comics, T-shirts, Prints and Imagined Sound Track
